Target
Some days I should just go back to bed and start over. I decided to stop by Target (in the next town) on my way home this morning so I could get my packing done for vacation. For some reason my bank card would not read when I swiped it. When the cashier put my card number in, it said the security number on the back did not match. After 5...yep, 5 tries I used a different bank card. When I got home I looked at my online statement to see what the problem might be and wouldn't you know it, I got charged $47.02 all 5 times and paid for it with my other account! So much for saving time!! I now have to drive back and get it taken care of.

Employee Free Choice Act
In today’s economy, folks like you and me need a fair deal and a chance to get ahead. It’s only getting worse for working families as the cost of everything from gas to groceries keeps going up.
That’s why I signed a petition supporting the Employee Free Choice Act, which would help level the playing field by making it easier for workers to join unions.
Some CEOs just go too far. They rake in millions while cutting back health benefits and raises for their employees. It’s time to bring back some balance in this economy. This bill would help all of us, by giving workers more muscle to raise living standards, improve health care, and stop outsourcing.
We’re all in this together. Help us get to one million signatures! It just takes one minute –

Lowes Foods
With the kids being out of school I need to stock up on things they can heat in the microwave for lunch. Thanks to Lowe's Foods this is the week for me to do it!
**Suddenly Salad is on sale for $1.00 each. There was a -.55 /2 coupon in the paper, Lowe's doubles coupons making them .45 cents each
**Deli Creations are BOGO this week making them 2/$2.99. There are pull coupons right beside them in the store for $1 off making them .49 cents each!!
**Minute Maid Juice Bars are BOGO this week making them 2/$3.99. There are .55 off coupons out there which would make them about $1.44 per box. Also I believe there was a .75/2 coupon in last weeks paper.

What a good (shopping) weekend!
Friday I took my youngest daughter to the bank to open her own account (she already has one I opened when she was a baby). She has been babysitting and had a box she kept her money in. With box in tow, she opened her very own account with the $250.00 stashed in it. She is excited about getting her very own debit card.
We went to Dick's Sporting Goods to get part of a Father's Day present. I used a $20 off $20 coupon I received in the mail and got this 2 chairs and a headlamp (for night fishing) for $7.22.
We also went to JC Penney and used my $20 off $20 purchase. She got 2 pair of shorts and 2 shirts for $4.99 plus tax since they were having a buy one/get 1 for $1 sale.
At Kohl's I got a gazebo for the lake. They have all their garden stuff marked down 70%-80%!

It is urgent that you take action now.Unemployment just took its biggest jump in 22 years, and the number of jobless workers who can't find work is at historic levels. Millions of jobless workers will run out of unemployment insurance benefits this year. And for every two job seekers, only one job is available.
But President Bush is so committed to his failed economic policies that he's promised to veto any attempt to extend unemployment insurance benefits for working families on the brink of disaster. Believe it or not, here's his policy: "Increasing and extending unemployment insurance benefits when unemployment is this low would be unprecedented and counterproductive because it would reduce the incentive for workers to find new employment."Talk about out of touch!
With soaring gas, food and health care costs, even a short period of unemployment can devastate a working family. But the worse this economy gets, the longer it's taking people to find jobs. And working families are suffering.
The U.S. House is expected to vote today or tomorrow on extending unemployment insurance benefits for jobless workers by 13 weeks nationwide and by an additional 13 weeks in high-unemployment states—a move that will benefit 3.8 million workers overall.
Congress must hear your voice. Tell your representative NOW to extend help for jobless workers.

Frugality Fun
These days of high gas prices, saving on a shopping trip has to include the logistics of transportation costs. Many people who drove further away to get to their favorite discount wholesale club or grocer are now re-evaluating whether the savings add up when gas is counted in. If you have to use a credit card or a cash advance to pay for the trip to the store, then it might be time to alter your shopping habits. There are still many ways to save at the grocer or in the retail market, even including gas costs. You can choose to make a few less trips and stock up on items for the long haul. You can clip the coupons and go only on double and triple coupon days. You can also choose to buy items online and have them shipped to your house (although that sometimes includes a shipping fee).
If you have family close by, you can even make it a family affair. You can carpool to and from the shopping centers, can start a coupon trading group, and even tell each other about rebates and discounts offer online. Sometimes you even get free shipping online for certain time periods or dollar amounts spent. This works particularly well if you shop at wholesale clubs, where packages are in multiples that may be too much for one family. If you share the shopping, you can also split the cost and the package and thus buy just enough and save money at the lower discount rate. Wholesale clubs are also good for items that aren't normally considered when joining, like discount eye glasses and tires. It doesn't just have to be about food. So, when you are deciding to save some money next shopping trip, consider all the alternatives and try to find ways to minimize your transportation and product costs while having some fun too.
