Apples Anyone?!

We decided to go for a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway this morning so we could enjoy all the fall colors. If you have never taken a trip on the Parkway, you should plan to in the future. It is beautiful any time of year but, October when the foliage is changing is breath taking. We have spent many weekends riding our motorcycles on the Parkway visiting all the historical landmarks but, today is the first time we took the truck and visited Apple orchards. For my well spent $20 we have so many apples that I have spent the afternoon making apple tarts, apple pie filling, baked apples, and apple sauce. I have more apples but, I just can't think of anything else to make with them.

slow cooker apple butter is a great one and it lasts for quite a while so you can even give some away for christmas this year, if you want.

If your family eats pork, you can make pork with apples, again, in the slow cooker. We don't eat pork but I heard that this is a pretty easy recipe and there are quite a few of them available online.

You can also save them in an ice chest out doors and they will last for months. The slow cooker recipes are great they work well. You can mail some to me if you get to tired of them all we have here in Florida is oranges. -LOL
